It won't take long! The calendar is a little light on again today.
2330GMT - Australia - ANZ-Roy Morgan weekly consumer confidence
- prior 112.5
I noted last week (not for the first time) that while business confidence has been solid, consumer confidence is not so much - company profit growth has been higher but wage growth has been slow, that'll be a contributor to the disparity.
For the AUD, this data point is generally not much of an immediate influence.
2350GMT - Minutes of the Bank of Japan meting of June
This meeting was only notable for pretty much nothing - no changes:
- Promise to buy JGBs at around 80 trln yen pace per year unchanged
- Maintained short-term interest rate target at -0.1 pct
- Maintained 10-year JGB yield target around zero pct (if you've been following along you'll know that this policy target is impacting on the first one I mention, buying JGBs at 80tln pace - making it somewhat irrelevant)
- Economic assessment unchanged
- Raised assessment on private consumption
- Rasied its view on overseas economies
- Said that inflation expectations remained in a weakening phase
Since the June meeting we've had the July meeting (just last week) so the minutes today are somewhat stale.
